Save the dates for two weekends in May (9-11 and 17-18) for this exciting cultural event. Some of Bucks County’s finest artists will participate in the Elephant’s Eye Studio Tour. They will open their private studios to the public to give art lovers an inside peek into their worlds.
The name “Elephant’s Eye” comes from a Rodgers and Hammerstein song from the score of Oklahoma; “…the corn is as high as an elephant’s eye…” Our idea was to refer to that distinguished group of artists who graced our area from the 20’s thru the mid 60’s. They were the people who gave our County its reputation as being a cultural center.
Whether you are a long time collector or a student anxious to gain access to real artists working in their own spaces, the tour is a perfect opportunity for you to visit the studios of nationally and internationally acclaimed sculptors, potters, wood turners, photographers and more. Many studios will feature visiting artists additionally. The artists you’ll meet along the way will be available to engage in conversation about the making of their art and share their experience. Talk to them about their creative process, their work life and work environment. Artist’s largely work in isolation, so if you’re an art lover, take advantage of this rare opportunity to engage with these creative people.
With studios located in some of Bucks County’s most inspiring locations, this free, self-paced tour is the perfect way to spend a leisurely day or even an entire weekend this coming Spring. No reservations required….just come and enjoy!
