WBF Committees

Communications Committee

The Communications committee gets the word out about the Women’s Business Forum to attract new members, promote members’ expertise and sustain membership and the Forum culture through effective communication. The committee is responsible for ongoing public relations, Website content, graphic design and promotional material as needed.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee shall be made up of the most recent past president, the president, president-elect, and two Supporting members of the Forum who are not running for election. The nominating committee shall meet to determine a proposed slate of Officers and will conduct nominations in accordance with Section 7.5 of the bylaws. In addition the nominating committee will evaluate the performance of the Officers and committee members.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a newly formed committee that will ensure the financial health of the Women’s Business Forum by generating revenue through programs and sponsorships.

Expo Committee

The expo committee will plan and execute a major expo event as requested by the Advisory Board and/or the Executive Committee as need by the Forum. The committee will work to coordinate advertising with the Forum Communications Committee to suggest and implement and, coordinate pre and post event advertising and publicity. The Committee chair will attend Executive Committee meetings as requested by the President and report directly to the President and the Advisory Board Leader.

Membership Committee

The goal of the membership committee is to attract new members and sustain membership. To do this, it will be a point of contact for potential members, identify and be a representative at events that have the potential to gain new members, follow up with newcomers to personalize their experience. The committee members will make sure the Forum meeting room is prepared — putting out the sign in book and any collateral needed, placement of membership boards, and clean up of materials after meeting. Committee members will act as Greeters as needed. This requires attendance at each meeting but can be delegated if needed.

Programs Committee

The goal of the programs committee is to provide speakers who will educate, inform and enhance the lives of businesswomen and nurture and support professional and personal growth. The objectives of the committee are to maintain a high caliber of speakers from both inside and outside of the Forum and provide topics that are timely and pertinent to the members’ interests. This committee will also be responsible for the ad hoc planning of special events, as necessary, and design, implement and report on evaluations of all programs. Along with a chair and/or co-chairs, this committee will also include a Moderator Coordinator.

Moderator Coordinator (special position on Programs Committee)

The purpose of this position is to make sure that every Forum meeting has a Moderator scheduled to assist with the meeting; to communicate the duties of the Moderators; and to serve as the Moderator in the event that there is a vacancy.

Mentoring Committee

The purpose of the Mentoring Committee is to plan and manage programs that will enhance professional and personal development among Forum members by connecting them with others who can provide advice on a variety of business-related issues.

Social Committee

This committee shall be responsible to plan at least two social gatherings of Forum members per year including but not limited a spring or summer social and a holiday social.

Development Committee

This committee will handle requests for partnerships and sponsorships from other organizations, as well as other development opportunities as they arise. This committee will formulate a short- and long-term fundraising development plan from public dollars, corporate/foundation giving, annual giving, special events and endowment income, as well as alternative funding sources. It will also review requests for partnerships with local businesses and the media, especially those owned by women or primarily patronized by women; identify donors; oversee obtaining sponsors for all major events; support Officers and the Grant Development Task Force in submitting grant proposals.

Grant Development Subcommittee (subcommittee of Development)

This subcommittee will research grants appropriate to the mission of the Forum and will prepare grant proposals accordingly for final approval of the Advisory Board of Directors.

Oversight Committee

This committee will perform oversight of general financial record-keeping, tax preparation, fundraising, and dues structure in conjunction with Membership, the Treasurer, and the Board.
