Community Events : Meditation Seminar
Posted by Andy Cleff on 10/23/2006 8:06:28 (140 reads)

A weekend seminar providing thorough instruction in the Foundations of Meditation is being hosted by Bucks County Aikido in Doylestown, on November 10 and 11.

The regular daily practice of meditation reduces anxiety, physical and emotional pain, and prevents, reduces, or eliminates insomnia and addictive behavior (in relation to alcohol, nicotine, drugs and food). Self esteem is increased, and decision making ability is sharpened in regular meditators. The practice normalizes blood pressure, and many beginning mediators have been able to stay off blood pressure medication. Meditation provides meaning and purpose in life, improves personal satisfaction and contentment, slows the aging process, contributes to preventing and reversing heart disease, and improves overall health.

This two day seminar prepares the participant to begin a daily routine by providing thorough training in the theory and practice of correct meditation. Topics include the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual benefits of meditation; application to stress management; meditation posture; the relationship between breath and mind; the power of mantra; the evolution of consciousness; Kundalini Shakti; and the mind and attention. Several twenty minute practice sessions will be held each day.

Janaki Pierson, the instructor, has taught meditation for over 25 years in medical, educational, corporate and community settings. She is the co-founder and director of the Woodbury Yoga Center, in Woodbury Connecticut, and initiated the Yoga and Meditation program at Greenwich Hospital, in Greenwich CT over 10 years ago.

“Now is the time to begin a daily routine of meditation,” Ms. Pierson says, “it is a simple daily practice through which we can each, individually and collectively heal our bodies and minds, and bring peace within ourselves, our families, communities and the world at large.” This weekend seminar will be held Sat, Nov 10, 10:15am–5:30pm and Sun, Nov 11 9am–Noon, at Bucks County Aikido, 802 New Galena Rd, Doylestown PA

The cost of the seminar is $145. There is a $10 discount for registrations received by November 6th.
