Description
Although a lawyer may not know the details of your business, a lawyer can provide critical information to a business person on how to avoid legal problems through simple changes in daily business practice. Andrew Cotlar, partner in the local law firm of Cotlar & Cotlar, will provide a brief overview of some of these changes based upon his experience as a litigator and attorney-consultant. This presentation, which will be followed by questions and answers, will include:
(1) the need for a contract in your business dealings;
(2) how to create a written paper trail if there is no written contract;
(3) creation of a corporation or LLC;
(4) corporate succession by will or trust;
(5) how to protect your intellectual property;
(6) how to pay your attorney;
(7) how to pick an attorney;
