Description From Entrepreneurship to Social Entrepreneurship: Living Your Legacy Now

In this presentation, Barbara Shaiman will focus on how individuals can become social entrepreneurs - using their entrepreneurial and business skills to effect social change. Participants will begin to reflect on their family history and life experiences, core values, and what they stand for. They will explore how they can use their passion, skills and interests to identify and address local and global issues that are important to them.

In this workshop participants will:

-Begin to create a "Legacy Profile", which outlines who they are, what they are passionate about, and the skills they enjoy using

-Identify the issues that they want to address and learn how to get started

-Learn how to share this experience with family, friends and colleagues

-Learn how to bring the Live Your Legacy Now program to their workplace, faith-based community, or other community organizations.

Barbara is the daughter of Holocaust survivors. Her mother Carola Greenspan is the sole survivor of a family of 65 people and her father Henry worked for Oskar Schindler, the basis of Steven Spielberg’s film Schindler’s List. Given her family’s history she has worked to ensure that “the disease of silence and indifference never be allowed to triumph” by empowering people to speak up and take action in the face of violence and hatred.

Throughout her career, Barbara has been an educator, businesswoman and a social entrepreneur. Prior to creating Champions of Caring, Barbara directed Eisenbud and Associates, a national physician and executive search company specializing in the healthcare industry. As a leader in this field, she lectured on human resource issues at national conferences.
