Description Business owners need to know how intellectual property affects their businesses. It is important to use intellectual property to protect ideas and business tools as assets, as well as understand how to respect the intellectual property rights of others. This session will teach you the basics of trademarks and copyrights and how they relate to your business.


Kim Jessum is Of Counsel at Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP in Philadelphia. Ms. Jessum's practice is concentrated in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters. She represents chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients in both intellectual property litigation and transactional matters, including licensing, client counseling, and patent and trademark prosecution



Ms. Jessum received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and applied science from Lehigh University in 1992 and her master’s degree in biopharmaceuticals from University of Pennsylvania in 2004. She was awarded her law degree and Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology in 1997. Ms. Jessum is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Illinois and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
